PTK Honor Society Virtual Celebration
Wednesday, April 22, 2020, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CDT
Category: Professional Development

You are cordially invited to the
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
Virtual Celebration

To stop the spread of COVID-19, many of us are now adjusting to a life spent primarily at home. We're taking classes from home, helping family members stay healthy, and practicing self-care during this time of social distancing. For members of Phi Theta Kappa and student leaders, flattening the curve comes at the cost of milestones such as MCCA's annual PTK Honor Society Luncheon — but that's not going to stop us from honoring you!

Featured Speakers

Mun Y. Choi
President, University of Missouri System
Interim Chancellor, University of Missouri

As president, Dr. Choi serves as the chief executive and academic officer of the UM System, a land-grant institution that provides centralized administration for four universities, a health care system, and extension program, and ten research and technology parks. Dr. Choi oversees all academic, public, business, financial and related affairs of the UM System under the policies and general supervision of the University of Missouri Board of Curators. In March 2020, President Choi was also appointed interim chancellor of the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Dr. Raymond Cummiskey
President, Jefferson College

Under Cummiskey's leadership, Jefferson College has experienced significant enrollment growth and expansion of educational sites and facilities in Imperial, Arnold, and Cedar Hill. The college has additionally created a fully online virtual campus, implemented a long-range strategic planning process, and instituted a variety of new healthcare-related training programs.

Dr. Cummiskey is one of 10 retiring college presidents and chancellors recently recognized with the Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Award by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. These awards are given to retiring college presidents who have shown strong support of student success on their campus by recognizing academic achievement, leadership, and service among high-achieving students over the course of their career. Recipients are nominated by the students on their campus.

MCCA’s annual Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society and Student Leadership Luncheon celebrates Missouri’s finest college students. Students are nominated by their college PTK adviser and must complete an application. Since 1994, Missouri has honored outstanding PTK scholar-leaders with a state academic team program. PTK is an international academic honor society for community college students.
